Pastor Sheryl Brady - The Potter's House

2 Cor 4:6-10

(KJV) 2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to [give] the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

(KJV) 2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

(KJV) 2 Corinthians 4:8 [We are] troubled on every side, yet not distressed; [we are] perplexed, but not in despair;

(KJV) 2 Corinthians 4:9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

(KJV) 2 Corinthians 4:10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

2 Tim 2:19-22

(KJV) 2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

(KJV) 2 Timothy 2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

(KJV) 2 Timothy 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, [and] prepared unto every good work.

(KJV) 2 Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

There is a cure for your commoness. There are some things that you do not touch.

1Pet 5:6

There are some that the enemy cannot touch.

Because of the assigmment that is on their lives. Little becomes much when god gets in it.

We are merely lanterns; and without the oil being poured in he lantern, we have nothin to cause us to shine. Because he commandeth it to.

People will praise you and it is to your derent if you listen to it. I have the light but I am not he light. "I got it, but I am not it"

There is a difference between the vessel and what the vessel contains. We may face adversity sometimes, but because of what is in us, we will rise again.

The first thing that he potter does is throw the clay. Are you okay with being thrown?

He then stars spinning the wheel. Can you deal with goin in circles? Submit to the stretching, pressing, and pulling? Being out of control. Clay comes alive in the hands of the potter, in the hands of leadership.

It doesn't matter where you are in the process - you are not there by yourself.

what does it mean to be common? In a great house, there are many types of vessels.

You refuse to challenge yourself but you are cursed with the curse of commonness.

Purge and seperate from common things. Prepare.

Don't be disposable.  Easily replaced.

Four steps to cure commonness:

1. Intensify your prayer life. Jude 1:18-20

There will be scoffers. Agitators. Sensual people - fleshly. Build yourself in your faith. Learn to pray for yourself. Too much time in the flesh an too little time in the spirit.

2. Practice godliness. 2 Tim 10:22. Run from evil things.

It's not natural. Practice being like Him, when you really want to be like you! If you are always apologizing but never changing, you need practice.

3. Remaining faithful in trying times. Job.

I don't know where he is at, but he knows exactly where I am. It's going to bring the gold out of you.

4. Purify your motives. 1 Cor 3:11-15

Wy don't you have power? Because you use your power to manipulate. Examine yourselves. He's going to try every work by fire. Was it what go wanted built or what you wanted built. If it is god, it is gold and it will survive all fire.
