Evernote:Bishop Jakes - The Journey

From Evernote:

Bishop Jakes - The Journey

Acts: 24-28
Acts 27:31 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.   (KJV - sent from CadreBible)

They conspired against him. They wanted to try him in Jerusalem but Paul tells them he is a citizen of Rome and they don't want to go against Ceaser.

Sometimes God will tie all of that up and call you anyway. Knowing you were God's man but you done feel like it- your circumstances don't look like you are blessed. King Agrippa said to release him but they put him on a boat with other prisoners. The boat is trying to dodge the storms.

Paul has a vision that tne storms will get worse but they don't listen because  they dont respect his positon. God is not trying to stop the storm he's using it to train you in leadership. All hell is breaking loose but God is leading you through a hurricaine.

l never lost my praise.

I'm still standing by the grace of God.

They are trying to manage what trey cannot stop. Some stuff you cannot manage. They have stopped eating for 14 days. The seasoned sailors try to sneak off the ship because they sense their demise. Paul says stay on the ship.

He is now gaining respect. He says that they will not lose a soul.

In the midst of the storm paul tells them to eat. For the final part of the journey would be the hardest. They would need the strength. And after they ate the boat fell apart and those that could- swam.

You may not have what you uses to but you have something. So give the praise of a survivor.

The boat is gone. 276 bodies wash up on the beach. The barbarians build a fire to warm them. It will not always be the people who you expect to bless you. Paul helps to gather working hile weary and he doesnt know what he has.

Snakes dont come out until youre close to the fire. The snake fastened itself to him. The barbarians said he must be cursed to have been bitten. But he doesn't swell up and he keeps working.

The best response to criticism is success.

He let it happen to you so people could see that you didn't die. Keep on doing what God told you to do.

The survival of a death bite is the sign of a destiny. Your destiny is stronger than the venom designed to destroy you.

When he didn't die they thought he was a God. God sustained them for three months in the house of the barbarians. Until the season of storms was over.

You may have to be sustained in some strange ways, and in some strange places.

In the first chapter of Romans, he thanks God for the barbarians. It took all of that to bring me here.

God is angry whrnyou compliance about his method of transportation. Every storm you went through was not meant to kill you, but to train you. Don't come into Rome complaining.

This is to help you make sense of the journey.
