Bishop Jakes - Choked

From Evernote:

Bishop Jakes - Choked

(KJV) Matthew 5:7 Blessed [are] the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

(KJV) Matthew 18:21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

(KJV) Matthew 18:22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

(KJV) Matthew 18:23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.

(KJV) Matthew 18:24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.

(KJV) Matthew 18:25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.

(KJV) Matthew 18:26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

(KJV) Matthew 18:27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.

(KJV) Matthew 18:28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took [him] by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.

(KJV) Matthew 18:29 And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

(KJV) Matthew 18:30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.

(KJV) Matthew 18:31 So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.

(KJV) Matthew 18:32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:

(KJV) Matthew 18:33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?

(KJV) Matthew 18:34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.

(KJV) Matthew 18:35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

Why isn't anyone talking about forgiveness?

and took [him] by the throat

Wind is necessary to breathe. The shackles around the neck caused people to cease moving. Hard to think when you can't breathe. Instinctive reaction to an attack on the throat is to stop moving.

Human propensity for what people with abusive power could do to each other.

On the surface it is about forgiveness, but if you look deeper it is about power.

Jesus will command a blessing according to how you treat your associates.

You are in the world but not of the world.  Use things you can relate to in order to explain the things you cannot relate to. So he uses the story of the lord and servant with a debt.

To fix the deficit, the lord says sell him. Sell his kids - his future. You owe more than you are worth. An ultimately he forgave him he entire debt.

That's amazing.

When I am accused and innocent, I want justice. But when I am accused and guilty, I want mercy.

Mercy is only needed when you are guilty. Powerlessness needs no teaching. You may have to learn to laugh but no one has to teach you to cry.

He passed the test when he was powerless. Now he runs into someone is powerless. Watch how people treat people they don't need. This person owes almost nothing compared ton what he owed.

When somebody is weak where you have a strength, now is where you are either merciful or merciless.

He chokes the other man over what he owes. What he did tone brother he owed is what e did to the blessing he could have had. He choked the man and choked off his own blessing. When you stop giving it, you will also stop receiving.

Not only you, but your children, your future, our destiny.

If you take in what you need and hold in what you don't need, you don't have room and you will choke. If you are full of where you've been, how will you have room for where you are going?

You have to let it go.

Life is going to hand you something new every day. Take in what you need out of it and let the rest go. Don't let anyone hurt you so bad that you choke.

It's not just about forgiveness, it's about what you do with power. You cannot get mercy if our will not give mercy.

Unity flows down. From the head of Aaron onto his beard, down to his skirts. Step into a flow.

Get a blessed attitude: blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
